Gifted Education

We recognize the importance of the diversity, dignity, and self-worth of an individual and seek to provide an atmosphere where the intellectual, physical, emotional, and social growth of all students is fostered with a dedication to providing an education that challenges the exceptional abilities of our gifted students.

We believe that learning is a continuous experience. We have a responsibility to provide each student with the opportunity to realize his/her potential and to develop the skills to fulfill his/her goals in our interdependent society.

At Liberty Middle School, education for the gifted is based on the following principles:

  • Gifted students need opportunities to interact with all students.
  • Gifted students need opportunities to interact with other gifted students.
  • Gifted students need opportunities to pursue their particular interests and to share the results of these pursuits.

Maggie Walker Governor's School

Are you interested in applying to Maggie Walker Governor’s School?
Are you currently an 8th grader?
Are you enrolled in Algebra I or higher in math?
If you answered yes to all of these questions, please see your grade level school counselor.

Attention Eighth Graders Applying to Maggie Walker Governor's School:

The deadline for completed applications is fast approaching! For consideration of your application, you must ensure the application is complete and submitted to Ms. Sharp no later than Friday, November 30. There are no exceptions, and we will not allow late applications. You should check with your teacher recommendations and with Ms. Sharp prior to the deadline to verify that all parts were completed and submitted properly. If you have questions, please see Mrs. Datovech in room 97.
