About Our Director

Mr EtheridgeMr. Etheridge is a lifelong resident and product of Hanover County Public Schools. He attended Mechanicsville Elementary School and Stonewall Jackson Middle School and was a 1995 graduate of Lee-Davis High School. Mr. Etheridge then went on to attend Virginia Commonwealth University, where he graduated Cum Laude and earned his bachelor of music education degree with an emphasis in instrumental music.

As a performer, Mr. Etheridge participated in many capacities including: The Hanover All-County Band (5 years), The District One All-District High School Band (2 years), various brass ensembles, VCU Pep Band, VCU University Band, VCU Symphonic Wind Ensemble, VCU Orchestra, VCU Jazz Orchestra II, Commonwealth Winds, and several local rock bands. Mr. Etheridge also performed at Busch Gardens for 4 years, where he performed in the Italy and Festhaus Shows as well as the All-American Concert Band.

Mr. Etheridge began his teaching career at Caroline Middle School in Caroline County, VA, where he was the director of bands. He also served as the assistant director of the Caroline High School Marching Cavaliers. Currently, Mr. Etheridge is the director of bands at Liberty Middle School where he has been since 2004. Besides teaching the LMS Beginning, Concert, and Symphonic Bands, he also teaches private brass lessons at Mechanicsville Music.

Mr. Etheridge currently resides in Mechanicsville with his wife, Peggy, and his 2 kids, Colin and Abby. In his free time, he likes to read, watch baseball (Go, Braves!), work in his yard, and spend time with his family.
